Beverly Morrison,
Principal

Beverly Morrison’s leadership potential was recognized even before she graduated from elementary school. When as an eighth grader she was elected student council president, she gained the respect of not only teachers and student’s but parents as well. Since then she has been described by her peers as a patient, calm and eternally positive individual.

While working and attending school full time, this Chicago native earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Chicago State University. Beverly remained a student at CSU, subsequently earning a Master of Science Degree in Education with an emphasis on Urban Education, Supervision/Administration.

Described by her peers as a “consummate professional”, Beverly has received numerous teaching awards and recognition from the school district, parent groups, community organizations and local news programs. After having taught grades 4-8, Beverly accepted the position as school coordinator of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program before being appointed assistant principal of a primary school and later a K-8 school. After 32 years of service, Beverly retired from Chicago Public Schools. Only to return to work a year later so that she might continue to make a difference in the lives of students and those that service them as well,

Beverly’s love for young people transcends her professional interests. She has been instrumental in developing the scholarship program at Covenant United Church of Christ. She serves as Northern Regional Director of Eta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporate, a business and professional women’s organization devote to leadership positions with the National Association of University Women which has a history of proving scholastic assistance to young people with very limited financial resources. Beverly has spent a lifetime using gifts to encourage tohers to be the best they can be.
